At home these days, my youngest daughter has just started crawling.
Her two older sisters run through the house with the confidence of people who already know how their bodies work. They move fast, turn corners, disappear down the hallway and come back laughing.
She watches them carefully.
You can almost see the calculation happening in her mind. She wants to join them. She wants to move like they do. But right now, crawling is as far as her world goes.
So she tries. Slowly. Carefully. One movement at a time.
Watching her reminded me of something we often forget in business and leadership.
Many people love starting things. A new business. A new strategy. A new initiative. Starting feels powerful. It feels like movement.
But somewhere between the excitement of the beginning and the discipline of completion, many people lose the thread. They forget why they started in the first place.
